ive been on suboxone for about two months now and i took a narcotic for pain today. I skipped my suboxone dose this morning. What would happen if i take suboxone after taking narcotic an hour later?

  2. freudian55 says:

It depends on how much you took. If you didn’t feel any effect from the pain pill, you probably won’t have withdrawal. Probably. If you took enough of something to feel ‘high’, then you will likely get withdrawal if you take Suboxone. Most pain pills wear off after 6 hours or so (except MS Contin, oxycontin, Opana ER, or other sustained release preparations). If you wait 8 hours and then take Suboxone you should be fine.

I have a question, I have been on suboxone for over a year now after a relapse. The relapse happened after I was off of suboxone( the first time) for about six months. Anyways, the Dr. Who was prescribing it to me got his license pulled for being a pill mill. I then got referred to a place that claims they can get you off suboxone with alot of vitamins, exercise and cold laser accupuncture in twelve weeks or less. Which sounded pretty good at the time. I am down to 3 mgs. A day and can function very well and felt fine until I went down to 2 mgs. A day then I started getting sick. I have started a business since I have been on suboxone this time and am doing so well, I even have quite a bit money saved! ( which is a miracle for an addict). Anyways I have enough medication for two weeks and this place won’t write any more scripts for me. I am so nervous about running out, because I am doing so well and don’t want to go back to that place again. I would like to think I will be just fine but I don’t think I will make it through another relapse. My question is how long can you stay on suboxone and would a person be able to stay at a low dose indefinitely? Or do you developed a tolerance to suboxone? I’m not sure if any of this makes sense, I am confused because I was so misled from by the pill mill Dr. And you make so much sense, please help me.

My husband is on 8 ml of suboxon. We have 3 kids under 4. I notice he is very tired, moody, and anti social. I don’t notice much of a difference from when he was on oxy. I know suboxon is better but I can’t help but think this drug is doing him much good. He is also on 30 mg of adderal. Does anyone else see these symptoms?

    • freudian55 says:

Suboxone (buprenorphine) will remove the obsession to take opioids. That is what it does– that is all that it does. It won’t help pay the bills, relieve stress, or take the place of a good exercise program. When I had three young kids (I never had three under 4 though!) I was usually tired and moody, and most days didn’t have energy to go out with friends– especially after a hard day at work.

Adderall usually increases the risk of anger; it also is very dangerous if a person starts to cheat on sleep by using stimulants, so make sure that is not happening.

Don’t expect too much from the medication. People who have trouble controlling their use of opioids have a better chance of controlling Suboxone– period. That’s what it is for, and that’s all it does.

I have been on suboxone for 1 year and I am going to need something for pain when I have surgery. Is there a pain med that works while taking suboxone? I hate to admit to the Dr. that I have a drug problem.
    Thanks, Dale

    • freudian55 says:

There really needs to be communication between your addiction doc and your surgeon. Usually, patients having surgery are treated with large doses of opioid agonists during the post- op period. Suboxone alone is NOT enough to over surgical pain.

I am prescribed to both subutex and Xanax from two different Dr’s., both aware of the other. Problem is my Xanax is doing NADA aka- not a thing.
What is going on? I have found one other person on a site going through the same thing but why just us. I take 4mg’s a day of the subutex and can take up to 12mg. Of Xanax and not even feel tired much les relaxed. I have very severe PTSD and must have my Xanax working. Don’t suggest Paxil I’m already on it and it’s a miracle SSRI for me. Please help.
